Interlochen Public Library Launches Foundation — First of Its Kind in Northwestern Michigan

Interlochen, MI — October 10, 2025 — The Interlochen Public Library is proud to announce the creation of the Interlochen Public Library Foundation, a new charitable organization dedicated to ensuring the library’s long-term sustainability and preserving its role as a cornerstone of the community.

The IPL Foundation will serve as a financial safety net for the future, providing funds for ongoing building maintenance, repairs, and improvements, while supporting the library’s continued growth and innovation.

With this launch, the Interlochen Public Library becomes the first library in Northwestern Michigan to establish its own Foundation — a proactive step toward securing a vibrant future for both the library and the community it serves.

“The library is more than just a building filled with books—it’s the heart of Interlochen,” said Jennifer Thomet, Library Director. “It’s where neighbors connect, children discover a love of reading, and lifelong learners find inspiration. The new Foundation will help preserve that spirit for years to come, ensuring our library remains a welcoming and dynamic place for everyone.”
